Mack nerds out on video games with the Angry Video Game Nerd, and Bunny Ears podcast recurring characters Shawn DePasquale and Stewart Miller.

This episode discusses all things – you guessed it – video games! The quartet delves into video game crossovers that don’t make sense. What exactly is going on with the Kingdom Hearts storyline? And why exactly does Clark Griswold from National Lampoon’s Vacation show up in Abobo’s Big Adventure? It leads to a debate on digitally adding characters to movies, specifically Home Alone 2. Should they digitally replace Trump, or should they digitally replace every character with Trump? They also ponder the age-old philosophical question, are there really bad guys in video games?

But the fab four doesn’t just gab on games, they also have a tete-a-tete about video game movies! Specifically, which movie adaptations of video games are the best, and which one is the highest rated on Rotten Tomatoes. Hint: It’s not what you think if you think it’s Tomb Raider. They share their predictions for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and his muscly legs, and ruminate over what your favorite 80s video games would look like as movies. The boys pitch a pretty gritty opening for Pac Man’s origin story you won’t be able to un-hear.

But that’s not the only pitch they give— The gang pitches suggestions for a better Grand Theft Auto. Listen up, Rockstar Games! They also pitch ideas for a Stephen King video game. Listen up, King of Horror and Writing About Car Accidents!

Plus a riveting game of Clock Blockers will leave you shouting at whatever device you’re listening to this podcast on, “How is Cujo a creature!? He’s not! He’s a rabid dog! Idiots!”

But this podcast also has non-video game related content! This Day in Science interviews the first astronaut selected for the Mars One mission, delving into the great lengths someone will go to in order escape from the desolate wasteland known as Ohio. And Meditation Minute gives you one minute to relax. Get so deep in your head you’re oblivious to the world around you, because the voice in the guided mediation just needs to get some things off his chest…

  1. Mack, had to comment just to say this. You NEED to play Earthbound. With your sense of humor, I think you’d really enjoy the weird wackiness of the story. It’s full of puns, pop culture references and some really obscure enemies…..like Master Belch and Master Barf. The 90’s are strong with this one.

  2. Kinda makes you wish you actually had been a child star so you could retire at 30 and have the time to actually gather all this game/movies knowledge, doesn’t it?

    LOVE IT.
QUITTING my job tomorrow just so I can keep up with you guys.

  3. OMG, Macaulay Culkin extended universe! I saw the nerd episode like a year ago and this is literally the first Bunny Ears I’m listening to. (Came here from Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin show)
