How To Get Over Your Unemployment Blues (In Luxury)
We have all been there. You just got laid off from your job and you are feeling a little blue about it. Even during a dark time like being unemployed you have to remember that self care is very important. You may be rapidly running out of funds, but if you don’t feel great about yourself you might as well already be broke.
TRAVEL TO GREECE
Without a job you probably suddenly find yourself with a lot of free time on your hands, maybe it’s best to get out of the country for a while. Is there any better place to lick one’s wounds than Mykonos, Greece? You can just pull out your credit card, preferably a parent’s, and in 12 hours you’re there. You can pass the time getting spa treatments, sitting on white sand beaches, going to gay circuit parties, experimenting with designer drugs, or just dancing the night away at one of those foam parties you have always heard about. Who better to commiserate with about all the free time you are about to have than with the heirs and heiresses to Greek shipping fortunes?
GO SKIING IN AUSTRIA
Maybe the warmth of Mykonos isn’t for you. You should try skiing your unemployment funk away in San Moritz, Austria! You can try traveling around in horse-drawn sleighs to help you forget that you’re no longer drawing a weekly paycheck. The rooms in the area can be pretty expensive sometimes running $1,000 to $2,500 a night, but trust us: you’re worth it. Do you like skiing at night? Well at some of the mountains in this area you can ski by torchlight! Is it safer than skiing by bright LED light? Absolutely not, but it just seems prettier and would probably Instagram way better. Maybe you could gain a following and start doing sponsored posts for Flat Tummy tea or something.
BUY A DOPE CAR
There are also so many things that you can do to take your mind off your unemployment blues without ever leaving the country. Most people’s cars are pretty boring or even depressing. Nothing will spice up your life more than going to pick out a brand new luxury vehicle. The new car smell heals all wounds and the feel of that new leather can really get you ready to finally update your resumé or even learn how to write a cover letter. Also if you’re worried about money you should skip a Ferrari or a Jaguar and go for the more economical Tesla. Driving the electric Tesla will decrease what you have to spend on gas. So you can enjoy that new car smell and save some money!
FIND A HOBBY (OR TWO)
You should also try and pick up some new hobbies with all of your free time. Many people like to spend their free time playing water polo or yachting. These, of course, aren’t the cheapest hobbies that you can pick up but consider all the networking opportunities. I bet a good tax accountant could write off at least some of your new gear as a business expense.
No matter how you take on your funemployment make sure you just listen to your heart. Do what makes you happy. Live your best life. Put that happiness out into the universe and hopefully it’ll come back to you in the form of a new job. Also, it never hurts to apply for jobs if you can find the time!
